I’m Rehnuma (Rehh-noo-ma), a Counselling Psychologist in Training on the Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at the University of Roehampton. I’ve worked as a Clinical Associate Psychologist in the NHS, providing therapy for people struggling with low mood, anxiety, OCD, psychosis, and emotional struggles especially where they feel they might be a risk to themselves or others. I have an undergraduate and masters degree in psychology, with a focus on therapy for adult mental health.
Originally from Devon and now based in London, my own mental health journey has given me an appreciation of how messy life can be – and working through challenging life transitions has shaped my passion for helping people, especially those who feel marginalised or overlooked.
In our sessions, you’ll find a warm, non-judgemental space to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. I take a collaborative approach, regularly checking in to make sure therapy is meeting your needs. I follow HCPC standards of conduct for Counselling Psychologists in training to provide the highest standard of care and welcome feedback on how we can best work together.
I mainly use a Person-Centred approach but may draw on CBT, DBT, or ACT, depending on what feels most helpful for you. I aim to tailor our sessions to your unique needs, and I’m committed to working with an awareness of social justice and the impact of structural challenges on mental health, and we can explore this as much or as little as you’re comfortable with.
I can help with a range of issues, especially during difficult life transitions or when navigating emotions, relationships, identity, and spirituality. You might be feeling stuck, anxious, or struggling with low mood, or perhaps you’ve experienced marginalisation or systemic oppression and need support navigating these complexities. Whatever you’re facing, we’ll start with a conversation and work from there.
If you’re ready to work through your challenges, please get in touch. I currently offer online sessions, but we can discuss face-to-face options if that’s your preference.
